The Nutcracker Story

Party Guests, 2007

It is Christmas Eve in the Stahlbaum’s home. The children, Clara and Greta, anxiously wait for the holiday guests to arrive - especially for their mysterious Godfather Drosselmeyer, the toymaker. The guests arrive and what a collection of characters they are...the families of a musician, a professor, and a group of schoolgirls all join in a contest of dancing skill.
Soon their Godfather arrives! He unveils dancing dolls that enchant the guests. Clara is overjoyed when Drosselmeyer gives her a special Nutcracker doll. She dances around showing off her splendid new toy.

Drosselmeyer & Doll, 2008

Clara’s mischievous sister, Greta, jealously grabs the Nutcracker and a tug-of-war begins. Alas, the doll is broken. Clara is heart-broken, but Drosselmeyer bandages the Nutcracker’s jaw.

Too soon, it is time for tired children to go off to bed. Clara sneaks from bed to see her beloved Nutcracker, kisses him goodnight and falls fast asleep.

She wakes to see a terrifying sight - an army of mice and their King have appeared. A battle is beginning! Her Nutcracker doll comes to life and his toy soldiers appear. It is a fierce fight, but the Nutcracker wins with Clara’s help.

Mother Ginger, 2008

The heroic Nutcracker is revealed to be a prince! To reward Clara for her help, he takes her through the Land of Snow to the Palace of the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Land of Sweets. When they arrive, the Nutcracker Prince tells the story of the battle. To celebrate, the Sugar Plum Fairy holds a royal festival. Dancers come from all over the world. Wildflowers spin, sway, and waltz. When the celebration ends, the dancers bid Clara farewell.
